My paintings are a personal visual journal capturing ,y response to the natural world using layers of cold wax medium and oil paint, As I slowly build each painting, the image emerges, shifting as I apply and remove the paint mixture,revealing a history of its making.The richly textured surfaces, powdered pigments and oil paint combine to create a surface with extraorfinary depth and interest.

My sculptures are portraits of prople I know, my mom, uncle or a friend who is kind enough to pose for me. Even the neighbor’s kids want to get in the studio for a session. As the session goes on. ideas emerge and stories begin to unfold. As I sculpt each piece, the ideas deepen with nuance of gesture, expression and final patina. I work in a variety of mediums, each one brings a unique energy to the sculpture. I love the challenges that material brings to the work, and recently I have pursued wood carving, which has a very special place in my ongoing studio practice.
